Dr. Runyan holds a doctorate in social work and a license as a clinical social worker in New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida, where she offers Jungian psychotherapy. Medical Qigong is an ancient form of Chinese medicine that forms the root of acupuncture. A Qigong therapist uses the energy of Heaven and Earth to move Qi (life energy) through the meridians, draining, tonifying, and regulating the five Yin organ system. While the patient relaxes on a massage table, the therapist uses their hands, sometimes touching the body, to direct the flow of energy throughout the body to achieve maximum vitality. The therapist will ask you questions to determine where you might be experiencing physical or emotional pain. Dr. Runyan studied Medical Qigong for eight years with Dr. Isaac Goren, a Doctor of Acupuncture, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Goren's teacher was Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, who wrote the five volumes of Chinese Medical Therapy by Qigong. Both doctors were licensed in China.
